Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor of the old Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Mohammed Tukur.
Ododo described the death of the elder statesman as a great loss to Nigeria, particularly at a time when the country continues to draw from the experience and wisdom of leaders who contributed significantly to its political and socio-economic development.
In a condolence message, the governor described Tukur as a prominent Nigerian whose contributions to public service, business and national politics spanned several decades.
He noted that the late former governor served the country in various capacities, including as Governor of the old Gongola State and Minister of Industries, leaving behind a legacy of public service and extensive experience in national affairs.
According to Ododo, Tukur’s involvement in national politics placed him among the generation of Nigerian leaders who played important roles in shaping the country’s political development.
The governor extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the government and people of Adamawa State, as well as the associates and friends of the late elder statesman.
Ododo prayed that Almighty Allah would forgive Tukur’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
