Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, will be buried on Monday in Ilaro, Ogun State, following his death at the age of 66.
Hassan died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, after battling stage-four cancer during the final months of his life.
Veteran actor Jide Kosoko confirmed his death, triggering an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans and members of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, particularly the Yoruba film community.
According to the burial arrangements, Hassan’s lying-in-state ceremony will take place on Monday at the Pavilion in Ilaro, Ogun State.
The Ilaro Muslim Community also announced burial prayers for Monday morning at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground in Ilaro.
The actor’s family had previously appealed for support after disclosing the severity of his health condition and his ongoing treatment for cancer.
His daughters, Kaira and Lima Taiwo, had sought assistance while revealing that their father had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer. The appeal generated prayers, financial support and messages of solidarity from colleagues, friends, fans and well-wishers across the country.
Hassan established himself as one of the most recognisable faces in Yoruba cinema through decades of acting, filmmaking and cultural storytelling.
