The Village Head of Zazzaga in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, Mallam Usman Sarki, was shot dead in a bandit attack, which also resulted in the kidnapping of several other farmers, including women.
The attack occurred on Tuesday night when bandits targeted Zazzaga and neighboring communities.
The exact number of individuals abducted has not been confirmed, but it is reported that they also rustled many cattle during the attack.
Attacks on communities in Munya, Shiroro, and Rafi Local Government Areas have escalated in recent weeks, with residents living in fear due to the frequent incidents. The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the attack but is yet to provide full details.
