Putin criticized Washington’s approach to monopolizing peace negotiations without sufficient consideration for compromise. He emphasized the importance of addressing the core interests of the Palestinian people, particularly the creation of an independent Palestinian nation-state as outlined by the UN Security Council.
Putin’s statements were made during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, where they both emphasized minimizing harm to civilians in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Senior Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, have also criticized the U.S., advocating for the quartet of Middle East mediators to play a more prominent role in peace talks.
Meanwhile, Israel has responded to Hamas’s attack, leading to further violence in the region.
The U.S. has supported Israel and called on other nations to condemn Hamas, while Russia emphasizes the need for a two-state solution to achieve genuine reconciliation.
