An Ibadan resident, Wasilat Olalere, has denied claims circulating on social media that she filmed the sacred Oloolu masquerade during the 2026 Oloolu Masquerade Festival in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Oloolu masquerade, regarded as a revered ancestral figure in parts of Ibadan, visited communities in the city between July 28 and 30, with women traditionally prohibited from viewing its procession.
Olalere reportedly posted a video on TikTok on Thursday with the caption, “This is Oloolu at Sokoti area,” prompting reactions from adherents and supporters of the traditional institution.
