In a remarkable display of integrity, Malam Dayyabu Bala Gezawa, a casual worker employed by the Kano State government, has been richly rewarded for his honest act of returning N16 million.
The substantial reward includes a permanent job, a hajj trip, and one million naira in recognition of his patriotic actions.
Gezawa, who serves as a casual staff member at the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, stumbled upon a substantial sum of money designated for the basic travel allowance of pilgrims from a particular local government. Without hesitation, he promptly returned the funds to the board’s director general.
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended Gezawa’s heroics and unwavering integrity. He highlighted the significance of this act, emphasizing that the casual worker’s actions were all the more remarkable considering his economic hardships and status. The governor stated, “This casual worker has proven his integrity by returning missing money, despite his status and economic hardship in the country.”
