ASUU Brings Relief: Distributes Food and Aid to 320 IDPs in Katsina State

Date:

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) distributed foodstuffs and relief materials to 320 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Katsina State, which led to celebrations at the IDP camp.

ASUU’s President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, represented by Dr. Alkali Lawali, expressed ASUU’s commitment to assisting the most vulnerable, particularly IDPs across the country.

The donated items included rice, beans, groundnut oil, spaghetti, and other food items to alleviate the hardships faced by many IDPs. Prof. Osodeke also raised concerns about the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria, which have prevented many IDPs from returning to their communities.

ASUU expected that these issues, including the problem of IDPs, would have been addressed during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired military officer. The union sees the IDP situation as a manifestation of leadership problems in the country, and it urged the current government, led by President Bola Tinubu, to take measures to swiftly end the security situation so that IDPs can return to their communities and resume normal lives.
