In a stunning display of skill and dominance, Napoli secured a resounding 6-1 victory over Sassuolo at the MAPEI Stadium, with Victor Osimhen stealing the show with a remarkable hat-trick.
The hosts, Sassuolo, initially took the lead in the 13th minute through Uros Racic. However, Napoli quickly responded, with Amir Rrahmani leveling the score just 12 minutes later.
It was then Osimhen’s turn to shine, as the Nigerian forward turned the tide of the game in Napoli’s favor. He first put Napoli in the lead with a goal just after the half-hour mark, before adding two more goals to his tally in the 41st and 47th minutes, respectively.
Osimhen’s outstanding performance didn’t stop there. In the 50th minute, he provided an assist to Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, extending Napoli’s lead to 5-1.
Having made his mark on the game, Osimhen was substituted off in the 76th minute, with Giovanni Simeone taking his place on the field.
Osimhen’s hat-trick comes as no surprise, given his recent form. Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, the 25-year-old has been in scintillating form, notching up five goals in just three appearances for Napoli.
Overall, Osimhen has been a standout performer for Napoli this season, contributing 11 goals and three assists in 15 league appearances. His exceptional talent and scoring prowess continue to be crucial for the Partenopei as they strive for success in Serie A.
