CAF President Motsepe Reveals Nigeria’s President Tinubu Will Attend AFCON Final

Date:

The President of the Confederation of African Football Federations (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has announced that Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be in attendance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Nigeria and hosts Cote d’Ivoire are set to clash in the final of the competition at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, on Sunday.

Speaking during a press conference on Friday at the Palace de la Culture in Trechville, Abidjan, Motsepe was queried about Africa’s potential bid to host the World Cup again.

In response, the South African business magnate suggested that Nigeria should consider putting forth a bid, noting Tinubu’s presence at the final match as an opportunity to discuss the matter further.

“Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it,” Motsepe remarked.

Notably, Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima was present when the Super Eagles secured a victory over South Africa in the semi-finals with a 4-2 win on penalties.

The highly anticipated final is scheduled to kick off at 9 pm Nigerian time.
