Nigeria’s Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, exudes confidence as the team prepares to face Cameroon in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The much-anticipated encounter between the eternal rivals is scheduled to take place at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday.
Troost-Ekong, reflecting on the upcoming match, emphasized the familiarity of the Super Eagles with Cameroon as AFCON opponents.
He highlighted that Nigeria has faced Cameroon seven times in the AFCON, and the team is focused on their preparation, expressing confidence in the coach’s ability to provide the right tactics for victory.
The defender stated, “We believe in the coach to provide us with the right tactics to beat them. We are confident; after the last game, we resolved that we are ready to face any opponent. We just have to stick to our game plan and work hard on the pitch.”
Nigeria has a notable history against Cameroon in the AFCON, having won their last two encounters in 2004 and 2019.
The Super Eagles aim to continue their success against the Indomitable Lions and progress further in the tournament.
