Omeruo Named Captain for Super Eagles in 100th AFCON Match against Guinea-Bissau

Date:

Kasimpasa’s defender, Kenneth Omeruo, is set to lead the Super Eagles as captain in their 100th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Guinea-Bissau today.

Omeruo will step in for the injured William Troost-Ekong in the starting lineup for the pivotal encounter.

The 30-year-old, who was on the bench as an unused substitute in Nigeria’s initial game against Equatorial Guinea, played a crucial role as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire last week.

With 100 appearances for Nigeria under his belt, Omeruo brings experience and leadership to the team, taking on the captaincy in this milestone AFCON match.
