Lagos Governor Lauds Ansar-ud-Deen Society on Centenary Celebration

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, extends congratulations to the Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria for reaching a remarkable milestone of 100 years since its establishment in Lagos.

The Islamic organization, founded during the colonial era with a mission to promote conventional education among Muslims, received commendation from the governor during a visit by its delegation, led by national president Dr. Rafiu Sanni, at the State House in Alausa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, familiar with the society’s progressive ideals from his formative years in Surulere, acknowledged the significant influence of Ansar-ud-Deen in shaping the lives of young Muslims.

Highlighting the impact of the society’s reformist values, especially in education, he recalled his connection with Ansar-ud-Deen Grammar School in Surulere.

Expressing his admiration for the enduring legacy of the society, the governor praised Ansar-ud-Deen for producing upright individuals who have made notable contributions to Nigerian society. He emphasized the organization’s role in building a disciplined and morally upright community.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged members to collaborate and uphold the spirit of brotherhood embedded in the society’s values to ensure the continued success of its mission. Dr. Rafiu Sanni, the National President, highlighted Lagos’s crucial role in the society’s history, emphasizing the challenges Muslims faced in accessing conventional education in the Yoruba-speaking regions during its inception.*

*With over 600,000 members in Lagos, Ansar-ud-Deen continues to contribute to the state’s development.

Dr. Sanni emphasized the society’s commitment to its mission of reforming young people and enhancing the societal value system, citing its role in producing prominent personalities over the past century.
