Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has refuted reports suggesting a fallout with her ‘protégé,’ actor Tobi Makinde.
Dismissing the rumors, Akindele clarified the situation after speculation arose that she and Tobi had severed ties due to his expressed interest in collaborating with other filmmakers besides herself, whom he often referred to as his mentor.
A blogger had alleged that the co-directors of “Battle on Buka Street” had gone their separate ways following a disagreement.
However, on Sunday, Akindele celebrated Tobi’s portrayal of the character Shina, one of her sons in her latest film “A Tribe Called Judah,” on her Instagram account.
Sharing an Instagram reel featuring Tobi, Akindele showered praises on his performance in the movie.
In response, Tobi expressed his appreciation in the comment section of the post, urging fans to watch the film. His response garnered positive reactions from fans, who expressed delight over Akindele’s acknowledgment of Tobi.
Tobi Makinde, renowned for his role as Timini in Funke Akindele’s series “Jenifa’s Diary,” previously lauded Akindele in a 2023 interview with Bella Naija, describing his experience working with her as “amazing” and emphasizing the invaluable lessons he learned from her expertise in filmmaking and marketing.
