The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has selected ex-Super Eagles players Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Seyi Olofinjana, alongside former national team coach Austin Eguavoen and Patrick Pascal, to serve as mentors for the youth league.
In a brief ceremony held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, the quartet was unveiled for their roles in guiding and inspiring young talents in the league.
NPFL Chairman, Honorable Gbenga Elegbeleye, emphasized that the mentorship program aims to provide aspiring footballers with professional role models who can impart their wealth of experience and knowledge to help them reach their potential.
Elegbeleye urged Aiyegbeni, Olofinjana, Eguavoen, and Pascal to leverage their influence and expertise in the game to identify, nurture, and mentor the next generation of football stars within the youth league.
Pastor Emeka Inyama, Chairman of the Youth League Committee, commended the former internationals for their commitment to serving in this capacity, noting their willingness to dedicate time and effort to talent discovery and development in Nigerian football.
