EKSG Reinforces Commitment to Local Content Utilization in Development Projects

Date:

The Ekiti State government has reiterated its dedication to promoting the involvement of local artisans and businesses in ongoing projects.

The Director General of the Bureau of Local Content, Hon. Olalekan Ijidale, affirmed this commitment during a visit to the office of the Ring Road Project Contractor, Craneburg Construction, in Ado Ekiti.

Hon. Olalekan Ijidale emphasized the importance of incorporating a significant percentage of local artisans in various projects, particularly construction works, to ensure that indigenes of the state benefit from the government’s shared prosperity agenda. He expressed the intention to implement Governor Oyebanji’s mandate to enhance local content utilization in state projects actively.

Accompanied by leaders of artisans groups in the state, Ijidale highlighted that only artisans, local contractors, suppliers, and professionals registered with the Bureau of Local Content office would be eligible for local employment opportunities, either directly with the government or government contractors.

The Director General disclosed that the government has mandated all Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairmen to engage local contractors for state development projects, underscoring the commitment to bolstering local content involvement in developmental initiatives.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Dani Manssour, the Project Contractor of Craneburg Construction, expressed the firm’s willingness to engage as many Ekiti indigenes as possible. He assured that individuals agreeing to the company’s working terms would be absorbed as staff, receiving entitlements in line with the company’s regulations.

This reaffirmation of the state government’s commitment to local content utilization not only supports the growth of local businesses but also aligns with the broader goal of fostering shared prosperity and community development in Ekiti State.
