COREN Sets Up Committee to Review Engineers Registration Act

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has inaugurated a committee to review and recommend amendments to the Engineers Registration Act (as Amended) 2018.

The committee is tasked with identifying strengths and gaps in the current legislation, engaging stakeholders across the engineering and allied sectors, and benchmarking its findings against global best practices.

Its mandate includes recommending changes to enhance COREN’s regulatory authority, strengthen disciplinary frameworks, improve institutional autonomy, and provide sustainable support for key initiatives such as the Engineering Residency Programme (ERP). The committee is expected to submit its final report within three months.

COREN affirmed its commitment to safeguarding the engineering profession in Nigeria by ensuring that its regulatory instruments are robust, forward-looking, and globally competitive.
