The Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Mr. Sule Abdulaziz, announced on Thursday the launch of a Preventive Guide Handbook aimed at preventing and eliminating corruption within the agency.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony in Abuja, Abdulaziz emphasized the gravity of corruption and the commitment of TCN’s management to eradicate the menace.
The handbook, developed by the agency’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU), serves as an educational tool for staff to deter and prevent corrupt practices. Abdulaziz highlighted the importance of a proactive approach to corruption, urging all TCN staff to actively engage with the guide, internalize its content, and apply its principles in their daily activities.
Rather than a reactionary response to corruption incidents, the handbook emphasizes prevention. Abdulaziz encouraged staff not to perceive the guide as a mere office document but to read, understand, and apply its content to foster a workplace culture resistant to corruption.
The MD expressed gratitude to the ACTU team for compiling the anti-corruption guide and assured the management’s unwavering support in fulfilling its responsibilities. He called on all TCN members to embrace the values outlined in the handbook, contributing to a workplace that promotes ethical growth.
In attendance at the event was Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC). Owasanoye commended TCN for its efforts in combating corruption and emphasized the role of ACTU as an internal mechanism within government agencies to check corruption and promote integrity.
The ICPC chairman urged MDAs to institute policy frameworks ensuring effective regulation of good practices and measures against corrupt practices. He also called for ongoing training and retraining plans to instill a zero-tolerance attitude toward corruption among staff. Owasanoye applauded TCN’s commitment to the fight against corruption and encouraged the management to continue supporting ACTU’s activities.
