President Tinubu Inducts New Helicopters to Bolster Security Efforts

Date:

President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, oversaw the induction of two T-129 ATAK helicopters and a King Air 360ER Beechcraft at the Markudi NAF Base in Benue State.

These helicopters, delivered from Turkey in November 2023, are part of the Federal Government’s initiative to enhance counterterrorism and security operations in the country.

Expressing confidence in the deployment of these platforms, President Tinubu emphasized their role in boosting the combat efficiency of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) both domestically and within the West African region. He reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism, insurgency, kidnapping, and other criminal activities that have plagued Nigeria.

While acknowledging the progress made in counterterrorism efforts, President Tinubu stressed the need for continued vigilance until all security challenges are fully addressed. He called for a change in mindset, strategy, and tactics among NAF personnel to effectively confront present security threats.

Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, commended the President’s dedication to restoring peace across Nigeria and urged NAF personnel to align their actions with the administration’s vision of promoting peace, stability, and rapid development.

Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, highlighted the significance of the induction ceremony as a testament to the government’s commitment to equipping and empowering the NAF and other branches of the Armed Forces in combating terrorism and other adversaries. He announced plans to induct 46 new aircraft of various types over the next 18 months, reaffirming the NAF’s determination to bring an end to the ongoing conflict and ensure lasting peace and stability.

Air Marshal Abubakar called on all Nigerians to maintain faith and hope in the nation’s progress and prosperity, emphasizing the collective effort needed to achieve these goals.
