PDP Elects Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya as Kano State Chairman After Two-Year Hiatus

Date:

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State has elected Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya as its new state chairman after two years without executive leadership due to internal disputes.

Kibiya, a former Agriculture Commissioner under Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso (1999-2003), won with a decisive 3,964 votes, defeating his opponent Nura Nuhu, who garnered 244 votes.

Halilu Abubakar Mazagani, chairman of the election committee from the PDP national headquarters, announced the results, and Barrister Abdul Fatah Muhammad administered the oath to Kibiya and 38 other newly elected state party officials.

In his acceptance speech, Kibiya vowed to lead the PDP with transparency and inclusiveness, aiming to strengthen the party in Kano. The party’s publicity secretary, Professor Umar Faruk Jibril, emphasized the need for unity to effectively challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections. Senator Hayatou Gwarzo also expressed confidence that the PDP would reclaim power at the national level in 2027, citing growing dissatisfaction with the APC’s handling of the economy.
