Pastor Adeboye Calls Down “Fire of God” on Killers of Traditional Rulers

Date:

In response to the recent spate of killings targeting traditional rulers in Nigeria, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has invoked divine intervention, calling down the “fire of God” upon the perpetrators.

During the RCCG’s monthly Holy Ghost Service program titled “From The Mountain Top,” Pastor Adeboye condemned the attacks and asserted that traditional rulers are anointed by God. He prayed for divine justice to be served upon those responsible for the killings, emphasizing that they would not find peace.

The cleric’s statement follows a series of violent incidents targeting traditional rulers in the southwestern region of Nigeria. Just recently, gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders attacked and killed two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, triggering widespread outrage and concern over the escalating insecurity in the country.

Among the victims were the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsola. The attacks occurred while the monarchs were returning from a meeting, highlighting the vulnerability of traditional rulers to such violence.

In a separate incident, the Olukoro of Koro, General Segun Aremu (retd), was mercilessly murdered in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, further exacerbating tensions and fear in the affected communities.

Security agencies, including the police, have launched investigations into the incidents and have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, the killings have sparked nationwide calls for urgent action to address the pervasive insecurity and protect the lives of citizens, particularly traditional rulers who play vital roles in their communities.
