Troops from Operation Haderin Daji, operating in the Northwest zone, have successfully neutralized suspected terrorists in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement issued by Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the spokesman for Operation Haderin Daji (OPHD), the troops also conducted rescue operations in Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
The statement highlighted the following key operations:
1. Matazu Local Government Area, Katsina State:
– On November 13, 2023, troops arrested five suspected terrorists who were identified as part of the group that attacked Sayaya village on November 6, 2023.
2. Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas, Katsina State:
– On November 13 and 14, 2023, troops intercepted and rescued 11 kidnapped hostages in Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas.
3. Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State:
– On November 15, 2023, troops engaged terrorists in a firefight, neutralizing one and recovering weaponry, including an AK47 rifle, magazines, and motorcycles.
4. Zamfara, Katsina, and Sokoto States:
– Between November 18 and 19, 2023, troops responded to bandit activities in Maru, Malumfashi, and Danmusa Local Government Areas, neutralizing four bandits and rescuing two hostages.
5. Tangaza Local Government Area, Sokoto State:
– On November 20, 2023, troops engaged bandits in a firefight, neutralizing four terrorists, recovering weapons, and destroying motorcycles.
6. Air Component Operation:
– On November 17, 2023, the air component conducted air interdiction on a terrorist leader’s enclave in Danmusa LGA, Katsina State. The operation resulted in the neutralization of 20 terrorists, the arrest of 20 others, and the rescue of 83 kidnapped hostages. Various weapons, ammunition, motorcycles, and other items were recovered.
All recovered items, arrested suspects, and rescued hostages have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further action, including prosecution. The statement underlines the continued commitment of Operation Haderin Daji in addressing security challenges in the region.
