NIMASA, Nigerian Navy Collaborate to Foster Blue Economy Investment

Date:

In a strategic move, the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and the Nigerian Navy have joined forces, inaugurating an 8-Man Committee.

The committee’s mission is to devise effective ways to harness the synergy between these government bodies, creating a conducive atmosphere for increased investment in the Blue Economy.

Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC West), spearheaded the committee’s inauguration. Tasking its members with the responsibility, he urged them to formulate policies that would cultivate a favorable maritime environment, stimulating investment opportunities within the Nigerian Blue Economy.

The 8-Man Committee boasts a diverse composition, representing key figures from both the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA. On the Navy side, members include Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan (FOC, Western Naval Command), Cdre K.O. Oguntuga (Commander NNS Beecroft), Cdre N.S. Kaman (COO Western Naval Command), and Capt. A. U. Tijani.

NIMASA’s representatives include Chief Otonye Obom (Director Deep Blue Project), Kurahson Inuwa (Head Shipping Development), Isa Mudi (Head, ISPS), and Aisha Usman Dangote (Deputy Director, Cabotage Services).

Dr. Bashir Jamoh, NIMASA’s Director General, initially revealed the committee’s formation during a recent visit by a Nigerian Navy delegation to the agency’s headquarters in Lagos. The 8-Man committee, comprising an equal representation from both the Navy and NIMASA, stands poised to play a crucial role in developing strategies and policies that attract and facilitate investments in Nigeria’s burgeoning maritime industry.
