Dr. Betta Edu, the Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has expressed condolences to the government and people of Plateau state following the alleged massacre of over 100 innocent persons in 15 communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi local government areas on Christmas Eve.
The Minister described the incident as senseless, horrendous, and inhuman.
In a condolence message signed by the Minister’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, Dr. Edu pledged her Ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the state government to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected communities and survivors.
The Minister expressed shock and sadness over the attacks, offering condolences to the families of the victims and praying for permanent peace in Plateau. She highlighted the difficulties, indignities, and catastrophic humanitarian challenges facing the survivors and affected communities.
Dr. Edu affirmed the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to collaborate with the Plateau state government in bringing humanitarian succor to the survivors and affected communities. The Ministry, directed by President Bola Tinubu, aims to address the challenges faced by Nigerians and provide assistance in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the Ministry’s relentless efforts to ensure that every Nigerian and all parts of the country experiencing humanitarian crises receive necessary support.
