Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has taken decisive action by terminating a road contract awarded to NBHH Engineering Company due to negligence and delays in project completion.
The governor made this announcement during an unannounced visit to the project site in Okpoko on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
Expressing his disappointment, Governor Soludo lambasted the company for its failure to deliver on time, citing a significant delay of eight months beyond the scheduled completion date. The road project, encompassing nine roads spanning 14.053 km, was slated for completion by June of the previous year. However, due to the company’s alleged incompetence, the project remained unfinished.
Addressing the project supervisor directly, Governor Soludo emphasized the unacceptable nature of the delay, particularly considering the substantial mobilization fee provided to the company. He asserted that the contractor lacked the capacity to fulfill the project requirements and criticized the company’s performance as inadequate.
In response to the situation, Governor Soludo swiftly terminated the contract, instructing the company to remove its equipment and materials from the site. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring the timely completion of the project, emphasizing the importance of accountability and competence in fulfilling contractual obligations.
The terminated road projects, situated in Okpoko, an area targeted for transformation under Governor Soludo’s administration, represent a critical aspect of infrastructure development in the region.
