The Household of David church, located on Surulere Street, Adeniyi Jones in the Ikeja Local Government Area of Lagos State, suffered a devastating fire incident that resulted in the loss of its multi-million naira church auditorium.
The incident, which occurred around 10:00 am on Wednesday, was attributed to the overheating of the church auditorium’s ceiling, causing it to collapse and ignite a fire. According to Amodu Shakiri, spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire Service, the fire was contained within the auditorium, thanks to the swift response of various emergency agencies including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Alausa and Ikeja fire stations, LASAMBUS, LASEMA, and the Red Cross.
The fire caused significant damage to the church’s property, including furnishings and the auditorium itself. In a video posted on Instagram, the Senior Pastor of Household of David, Olusola Osunmakinde, expressed his grief over the incident, describing it as a painful experience. He recounted how the church was preparing for the ‘Mercy Conference’ when the fire broke out unexpectedly.
Despite the setback, Pastor Osunmakinde remained resilient, emphasizing that no lives were lost in the incident, and expressing gratitude to God for His protection. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence that the church would overcome them with faith and determination.
In the face of adversity, the Household of David church remains steadfast in its commitment to continue serving its congregation and the community, trusting in God’s providence and believing that all things work together for good.
