FG Declares Minna Airport as Alternative to Abuja

Date:

The Federal Government has officially designated the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport in Minna, Niger State, as an alternative to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The announcement was made during the inaugural flight of Overland Airways at the upgraded Minna airport.

The airport has undergone significant improvements and now meets international standards, with facilities capable of handling large aircraft such as Boeing 747s and 777s. The runway and supporting infrastructure have been upgraded to match those found in major international airports.

Authorities emphasized that the decision is a strategic move to ensure continuity in aviation services and ease of air travel, particularly during times when Abuja’s airport may be undergoing maintenance or experiencing congestion. The airport is expected to play a critical role in enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic development in Niger State and surrounding areas.
