Scores of Private Videos Found on Suspended UNICAL Dean’s Phone

Date:

A forensic and intelligence analyst with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Bwaigu Fungo, testified in the trial of the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, Cyril Ndifon, shedding light on critical evidence regarding alleged sexual harassment.

Fungo disclosed that Ndifon forwarded videos, including nu.de content, sent by a witness known as TKJ, to another number. From Ndifon’s phone, 16 nu.de videos were extracted, with only three belonging to TKJ, a diploma of law graduate who accused Ndifon of demanding sexual favors in exchange for academic opportunities.

TKJ, whose identity is protected by a court order, testified that Ndifon demanded oral sex and her virginity for admission into the LLB program. She further accused Ndifon of coercing her into performing oral sex in his car.

During Monday’s trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja, Fungo, the fourth witness, revealed that Ndifon forwarded TKJ’s nu.de videos to a number ending with 617. Additionally, he highlighted that one of the videos was recorded while being played on another phone.

In response to cross-examination by Ndifon’s counsel, Joe Agi (SAN), Fungo stated that the forensic analysis indicated TKJ’s actions were involuntary.

Agi requested a replay of the videos to ascertain TKJ’s movements, to which Fungo confirmed movement in the clips.

The proceedings ended with Agi’s request for an adjournment to continue cross-examination and an application for Ndifon’s medical treatment by the Nigerian Correctional Service. Justice James Omotoso granted both requests, adjourning the trial to February 14.

The trial underscores the gravity of allegations against Ndifon, highlighting the importance of forensic evidence in uncovering the truth and ensuring justice prevails in cases of sexual harassment.
