Popular singer Simi has expressed strong criticism towards the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for their decision to “counsel” the parents of Musa Suleman, who was arrested for engaging his four-year-old daughter in adult content on social media.
The incident sparked outrage after it was brought to light by an X user, prompting a response from the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
Adejobi announced that the Edo State Police Command would opt to counsel the parents rather than prosecute them, citing the need for education on the implications of such actions. He emphasized the moral dangers and exposure to societal rot that such exploitation could entail, advocating for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Community Service Responsibility (CSR) in handling such cases.
Simi, however, expressed shock and dismay at the police’s decision, particularly their choice to counsel parents who were blatantly and repeatedly engaging in sexual exploitation of their own child. She voiced her disbelief and frustration at the situation, emphasizing the severity of exploiting a four-year-old child and questioning the rationale behind the police’s response.
Simi’s reaction underscores the broader societal concern over child exploitation and the need for decisive action to protect vulnerable children from harm. Her criticism highlights the importance of holding perpetrators accountable and ensuring the safety and well-being of children in the country.
