Nigeria’s Super Eagles winger, Alex Iwobi, expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
Iwobi, currently in pre-AFCON training camp in Abu Dhabi, emphasized the positive atmosphere within the squad and assured Nigerians that the team, under coach Jose Peseiro, is well-prepared to deliver a strong performance at the continental tournament.
Iwobi highlighted the quality of players in the team and the unity among the squad members, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s chances at AFCON. He urged fans not to worry, emphasizing the depth of talent in the country, even beyond those selected for the team.
“We have the confidence that we can go far in this competition, but we have to prove it to ourselves. What I can assure Nigerians is that we are going to give our 100 percent, and we shall make the nation proud,” Iwobi assured.
Similarly, Ademola Lookman, who is gearing up for AFCON after a match-winning performance for Atalanta, echoed the positive sentiments. Lookman praised the ongoing training camp in Abu Dhabi, emphasizing the team’s strong mindset and collective determination to secure victory in Cote d’Ivoire.
“Just like the rest of my teammates, we are already prepared, and it’s been a few days training here in Abu Dhabi preparing for the AFCON. We have the mindset that we want to give our all and fight, looking forward to the big thing in Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire),” Lookman stated.
He expressed his commitment to giving his best for Nigeria and the fans, highlighting the team’s unity and individual self-belief. Both Iwobi and Lookman are optimistic about the Super Eagles’ chances at the AFCON, aiming to secure a fourth African title for Nigeria.
