Guinea-Bissau’s head coach, Baciro Cande, expressed disappointment with his team’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Djurtus concluded their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Nigeria, marking their third loss in the competition.
Guinea-Bissau is yet to secure a victory at the AFCON finals since their debut in 2017.
Cande acknowledged that the team did not meet expectations in Cote d’Ivoire, stating, “Three outings which all ended in defeats, these are not the results we were hoping for.”
Despite the disappointment, he emphasized the need to regroup and return stronger, committing to getting back to work to improve the team’s future performances.
