Equatorial Guinea Coach Expresses Dissatisfaction Despite Earning Valuable Draw Against Nigeria in AFCON

Date:

Juan Micha, the head coach of Equatorial Guinea, has voiced his discontent with the team’s performance against Nigeria in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Addressing reporters in a post-match news conference, Micha expressed his dissatisfaction with the result and emphasized his commitment to working towards achieving objectives in this edition of AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

Despite earning a valuable point in the Group A encounter, the Nzalang Nacional faced a resilient Super Eagles, with goalkeeper Jesus Ngua standing out as the Man of the Match.

Micha, not fully pleased with the outcome, highlighted that the team is prepared for the tournament and remains focused on the mission ahead.

“I think this selection that I lead is prepared day by day to compete in this tournament. I am lucky to know the details of football, having been a high-level player,” Micha stated.

He cautioned against complacency and urged his players to maintain focus, recognizing that their mission is far from complete.

With the group stage ongoing, Micha acknowledged that there is more work to be done and emphasized the importance of progressing to the next stage.

Equatorial Guinea is set to face Guinea-Bissau in their second game, with a potential victory paving the way for advancement to the round of 16.

Micha and his team remain optimistic about their chances, with the coach noting that reaching the knockout stages has been a consistent achievement for Equatorial Guinea in previous AFCON appearances.

The upcoming match against Guinea-Bissau presents an opportunity for the Nzalang Nacional to take a significant step forward in the competition.
