Police Deny Deliberate Attack on Rivers Governor During Assembly Complex Visit

Date:

In response to Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s claims of being attacked during his visit to the House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State police have refuted the allegations, stating that their officers were unaware of the governor’s presence among the protesters.

The police spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, explained that they deployed officers to secure the complex due to credible threats of mayhem, and when they realized the governor was in the crowd, they allowed him access.

The police also arrested 122 suspects involved in the alleged invasion of the former Speaker’s official residence, assuring residents of enhanced security measures to restore normalcy.
