Comedian Bovi Criticizes Super Eagles Coach for AFCON Final Defeat

Date:

Popular comedian Bovi has voiced his disappointment with the Super Eagles’ performance in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Cote d’Ivoire, attributing the loss to the team’s head coach, Jose Peseiro.

Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat to the hosts, Cote d’Ivoire, in the final match of the tournament on Sunday.

Expressing his views on his X handle, Bovi squarely blamed coach Peseiro’s tactics for the defeat, arguing that his defensive approach was contrary to Nigeria’s footballing tradition of flair and attacking play.

He emphasized that even if Nigeria had emerged victorious, he would still have been disappointed by the team’s style of play, which he believed was unfamiliar and restrictive to the players.

In his post, Bovi wrote: “Blame the coach. We are a footballing nation of flare. Fluidity, through passes, dribbles, attack. Not all-out defense. Even if we’d won, I would still be pissed. The style was evidently alien to the players.”

Bovi’s critique reflects the sentiments of many fans who were disappointed with the Super Eagles’ performance in the final, highlighting the importance of playing to the team’s strengths and adhering to Nigeria’s footballing philosophy.
