Rotary International marked a historic milestone on January 30, 2024, with the signing of the Rotary Intercounty Committee (RI ICC) protocol agreement, uniting districts from Africa and Taiwan in a spirit of collaboration and service.
This groundbreaking agreement brings together diverse districts renowned for their cultural richness and innovative spirit, under the Rotary banner, fostering unity, friendship, and a shared commitment to making a positive impact on communities worldwide.
The collaboration, which stemmed from a Global Grant in D9400 focusing on peacebuilding, supported by clubs and districts in America, Taiwan, and South Africa, amplifies the impact of service projects, promotes cultural exchange, and builds bridges of understanding across countries and continents.
The signing ceremony, attended by all District Governors and Governor-Elects of participating districts, witnessed the presence of Rotary International ICC Executive Board President, PDG Mohamed Ghammam, and esteemed guests including Past Rotary International President Gary Huang, and Rotary International Directors-Elect Naomi Lin and Patrick Chisanga.
PDG Mohamed Ghammam hailed the agreement as a catalyst for greater accomplishments, emphasizing Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.” PRIP Gary Huang acknowledged the profound impact of Taiwan and Africa on the global Rotary stage, extending heartfelt congratulations on the remarkable milestone.
RID Patrick Chisanga underscored the significance of the agreement, highlighting the strength of collaboration and unity in achieving positive change. District Governor Rtn. Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie expressed optimism about the agreement’s potential to inspire cooperation and create hope worldwide.
