The Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hammeed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, Tegbosun III, has extended his warm congratulations to former Chief of Army Staff and Nigerian High Commissioner to Benin Republic, Lt Gen Tukur Yussuf Buratai (rtd), on his appointment as the Betera of Biu Emirate.
In a statement issued by his media office, Olowu praised Buratai for his outstanding achievements as a soldier and diplomat, which have earned him recognition across Nigeria and beyond.
Olowu highlighted the significant turnout of dignitaries from various walks of life at the event held at the Emir of Biu’s Palace in Borno State. He described this as a testament to Buratai’s exemplary service and the positive impact he has made throughout his career.
With this new title, Lt Gen Tukur Yussuf Buratai (rtd) will join the ranks of the kingmakers in the Biu Emirate, holding the third position in the hierarchy of traditional title holders.
The event saw the presence of notable personalities, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Usman Kadafur, and other respected traditional rulers.
Buratai, in addition to his distinguished military and diplomatic career, has made a significant contribution to the nation, fostering strong ties between Nigeria and the Republic of Benin during his ambassadorial role.
