Minister Mohammed Idris Rejects Calls for President Tinubu’s Resignation Amid Economic Hardship

Date:

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has firmly rejected calls from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum for President Bola Tinubu to resign over the current economic challenges facing the country.

In response to the PDP Governors Forum’s statement urging Tinubu to step down if he cannot offer sustainable solutions to the nation’s problems, Idris emphasized that Tinubu will not resign. He labeled the call as a mere attempt at distraction by those who should be supporting the President’s efforts to alleviate economic hardship.

Idris pointed out that the administration of President Tinubu has consistently extended financial support to all state governments, regardless of their political affiliations. Additionally, the recent removal of petrol subsidies, a measure supported by the PDP in the past, has increased revenues for all states, including those governed by the PDP.

Highlighting the achievements of the Tinubu administration, Idris noted significant progress in revamping the national economy, combating insecurity, and clearing liabilities left by previous governments. He underscored the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, social welfare, and national security.

Idris emphasized that President Tinubu remains resolute in facing the country’s challenges and will continue to work towards building a prosperous and resilient Nigeria. He urged the PDP Governors Forum to refrain from distractions and instead focus on supporting the government’s efforts to address the nation’s issues.
