The Lagos State Government has declared a total closure of the Third Mainland Bridge for 24 hours to facilitate a crucial phase of ongoing repair activities on the bridge.
This decision comes following the resumption of repair works by the Federal Government on the Iyana Oworonshoki to the Lagos end of the bridge, which was completed last week.
The closure, announced by Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, will affect both carriageways and is scheduled to commence from 12 noon on Wednesday, February 28, to 12 noon on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
During this period, all road users are advised to utilize alternative routes provided, as the bridge will be inaccessible to traffic for the entire 24-hour duration. Osiyemi assured that traffic management officials will be deployed to manage traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to commuters.
