The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has launched an initiative to track 72 executive and constituency projects worth over N3.8 billion in Sokoto State.
This effort is part of Phase 6 of the ‘ICPC Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking (CEPT)’ program, which is currently taking place in various states across Nigeria.
Mr. Sa’idu Yahaya, the Team Leader, announced that the projects span various sectors, including health, education, water supply, empowerment, and electrification, with an estimated cost of N3.8 billion.
The tracking team, composed of members from the ICPC, the Nigeria Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Civil Society Organizations, and the Media, aims to monitor and assess the projects’ performance, value of work done, contractor identification, payment details, and project status.
One of the team’s primary objectives is to evaluate the value and impact of these projects on the communities they serve.
As part of this initiative, the team has already visited and assessed various projects, including the newly constructed and equipped Faculty of Engineering at Sokoto State University, a newly constructed block of classrooms at Tafida Aminu Primary School, and the installation of 38 solar street lights in the Mabera area of Sokoto South local Government.
