Group Calls on President Tinubu, EFCC Chairman to Ensure Professional Conduct

Date:

The Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for conducting a midnight raid on students of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, and called on President Bola Tinubu and the EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyode, to intervene and ensure professional conduct.

In a statement, OYC President Tayo Oluyi condemned the EFCC’s actions during the raid on the students, likening it to the nationwide #EndSARS protests. While acknowledging the group’s disapproval of youth involvement in internet fraud, Oluyi stressed the importance of upholding citizens’ rights and maintaining professional conduct.

The OYC expressed concern about the alleged extortion and property confiscation that took place during the raid and emphasized the need for the EFCC to provide evidence before labeling individuals as internet fraudsters. The raid led to a ban on “sting operations at night” by EFCC officers nationwide.
