The Global Peace Movement International, UK, an anti-corruption advocacy group, has expressed its commendation for the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement issued from London on Monday by Dr. Mike Uyi, the President General of the organization, GPMI hailed Olukoyede as a fearless champion in the battle against corruption and praised his invaluable contribution to the fight against graft in Nigeria.
Uyi further highlighted that Olukoyede’s appointment signifies a significant win for Nigerian youth and serves as a reminder for the younger generation to remain prepared to assume leadership positions.
The group also extended their appreciation to Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selecting Olukoyede for the EFCC’s top position, describing the choice as a pivotal maneuver in the administration’s ongoing efforts to combat the menace of corruption.
Uyi emphasized Olukoyede’s unblemished record and praised his dedication to the EFCC, noting that his in-depth understanding of the Commission’s inner workings, having served within it since its inception, is a remarkable asset. He also acknowledged that President Tinubu’s decision to appoint individuals with a background within the system, free from political interference, promotes commitment and devotion among staff.
As the first southerner to lead the EFCC and with over 22 years of experience as a regulatory compliance consultant and specialist in fraud management and corporate intelligence, the Global Peace Movement International is confident that Olukoyede will deliver effectively in the fight against corruption. GPMI pledged its support for his tenure.
