Angola’s national football team, the Palancas Negras, secured a convincing 3-0 win against Namibia in the Round-of-16 of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), advancing to the quarter-finals. As a reward for their achievement, sponsors have shown their appreciation by providing significant gifts to the team.

Banco Angolano de Investimento (BAI) has demonstrated its support by awarding each Angola player and coaching staff with five million Kwanzas, equivalent to approximately N5.41 million. This gesture not only acknowledges the team’s success but also serves as motivation for further accomplishments in the tournament.

Additionally, Aguinaldo Jaime, the President of the Board of Directors of UNITEL, has generously gifted each member of the Angolan delegation with an iPhone 15. These smartphones come with complimentary calls, SMS, and free internet access for a year, showcasing UNITEL’s commitment to supporting the team both on and off the field.

Furthermore, SODIAM EP, another sponsor, has offered a substantial incentive of US$250,000, equivalent to N225 million, to the team if they manage to defeat the Super Eagles in the upcoming match.

This promise highlights the confidence and belief that sponsors have in the Palancas Negras’ potential to achieve further success in the tournament.

Overall, these generous rewards and incentives serve to inspire and motivate the Angolan team as they continue their quest for an unprecedented semi-final berth in the premier African football competition, AFCON.
