Suspected terrorists launched a daring attack on a military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, resulting in residents fleeing the area amid a fierce gun battle.
The assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, targeted the joint military camp on Sunday night, arriving on motorcycles.
Although attempts to obtain official confirmation from military and police authorities were unsuccessful, a reliable security source affirmed the incident, stating that the attackers overwhelmed the soldiers, who abandoned the base.
The terrorists reportedly seized weapons, set fire to two military vehicles, and later invaded Nahuta town, looting shops and residences.
Hundreds of residents have evacuated to neighboring towns, with parents searching for missing children.
While the terrorists did not abduct or kill soldiers or residents, one resident claimed that eight terrorists were killed during the gun battle, and their bodies were recovered by security personnel.
