Peter Adebayo, a suspected murderer, has admitted to the Ondo State Police Command that he killed his friend, Lekan, after they consumed a hard drug known as ice.
Adebayo was apprehended after fatally striking Lekan on the head with a gas cylinder in the Ireakari-Oloko junction area of Akure, the state capital.
According to sources, both Adebayo and Lekan, natives of Ede, Osun State, had ingested ice, a crystal form of amphetamine-based drugs, prior to the incident. The pipes used to consume the drug were found in their room, indicating their recent drug use.
The tragic event was discovered when another friend, hailing from Delta State, raised an alarm upon finding Lekan unconscious and bleeding profusely. Despite efforts to save him, Lekan succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Adebayo confessed to the crime, revealing that he alone had consumed ice while Lekan smoked cigarettes. He admitted to using a gas cylinder as the murder weapon.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Olufunmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident and disclosed that the case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.
