The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 21-year-old man, Halilu Yusuf, for allegedly kidnapping a six-year-old boy.
The suspect was apprehended on August 17th, following credible intelligence, according to the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu.
Aliyu explained that Yusuf, who hails from Gezawa near Shinkafi village, lured and abducted the boy, the son of his mentor, from Kofar-Sauri quarters. He then demanded a ransom of N2 million from the boy’s father.
The suspect initially kept the child in his room before moving him to another location, unaware that police operatives were tracking him. Yusuf made an anonymous call to the father, informing him of the abduction.
Upon receiving the report, the police quickly mobilized a team led by the DPO GRA, Katsina, who successfully traced and arrested Yusuf, rescuing the boy unharmed.
During the investigation, Yusuf confessed to the crime. The police have confirmed that he will be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
