Former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele Granted N300 Million Bail in Abuja

Date:

In a recent development, the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been granted bail by Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.

The bail is set at N300 million, and Emefiele is required to provide two sureties with certificates of occupancy and titles of properties within the Maitama District, an upscale area in Abuja.

In addition to the financial requirements, Emefiele must surrender all his travel documents to the court registrar and remain within the Abuja Municipal Council as part of the bail conditions. The bail comes four months after a Federal High Court in Lagos granted him bail in the sum of N20 million.

The charges against Emefiele pertain to allegations of financial impropriety and corruption during his tenure as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The legal proceedings continue as the former CBN governor navigates the legal process associated with the accusations.
