The military Joint Task Force North-West Operation Hadarin Daji has reported a significant victory against bandits in Zamfara State, neutralizing a substantial number of them and rescuing eight kidnapped victims.
Lt. Col. Suleiman Omale, the Information Officer of Operation Hadarin Daji, revealed these developments in a statement released on Wednesday in Gusau.
According to Omale, the operation on February 28, 2024, involved a fierce gun battle between the troops and the terrorists. Thanks to the superior fighting power of the military, the bandits were forced to flee, leaving their captives behind. The troops successfully neutralized many of the terrorists, destroyed their hideouts, and secured the area through aggressive patrols.
All the rescued victims have been handed over to the appropriate authorities to facilitate their reunion with their families. Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, the Commander of the Joint Task Force and General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, commended the troops for their unwavering determination and resilience in restoring peace and normalcy to the North-West region.
Zamfara State has been severely affected by the scourge of banditry, making efforts to combat the menace crucial for the safety and security of its residents.
