Nicki Minaj Playfully Declares Nigeria Won’t “End” Her During Online Exchange

Date:

American rapper and songwriter Nicki Minaj, known offstage as Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, has humorously declared that Nigeria will not “end” her.

The 41-year-old music icon made this lighthearted remark during an online interaction on X.com (formerly Twitter).

The playful exchange began when a Nigerian fan, @Eniturn, commented on a line from Nicki’s response to a criticism aimed at Lil Wayne. The fan humorously imagined the line being delivered by an Igbo girl heartbroken by a Yoruba man.

Nicki Minaj responded with, “LMFAOOOO. Nigeria will not end me o! Sabi girl no dey too like talk 😛🤣. My words take the express elevator to the most high chi. I will show them pepper 🌶️.” This playful use of local expressions delighted her Nigerian fans, sparking a flurry of reactions.

Earlier, Minaj had defended Lil Wayne after a user, Tori Wan Kenabo, criticized his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. She fiercely rebuked the criticism, writing, “God will punish you. Mark my words. The man that has not only pushed his pen the hardest but gave the game more than 1 hip hop ICON as well on his watch? Represent the RAP game?!?!! The best RAPPER don’t represent the RAP GAME well enough for you? Black ppl. Wow. If this don’t hurt your heart to read, it will one day.” She continued her defense with a strong message against the critic, emphasizing the value of Lil Wayne’s contributions to the rap industry.

Minaj’s humorous and culturally resonant responses went viral, with Nigerian fans expressing their amusement and appreciation. One fan, @letter_to_Jack, jokingly claimed to know Minaj’s “real” name and background, while others encouraged her to visit Nigeria or feature in a Nollywood film. Some fans playfully speculated about her Nigerian heritage, and @chikazondu wondered who might be teaching her Nigerian expressions.

Nicki Minaj’s engaging and playful interaction with her Nigerian fans has further strengthened her bond with them, leaving many eager to see if she will visit Nigeria in the future.
