Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has filed a petition to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Delta State Police Command against a Facebook influencer.
The influencer, Agozi Samuel, allegedly made defamatory statements claiming that AY was involved with Yul Edochie’s estranged wife, May.
AY’s legal representatives stated that the accusations made in a video shared by Agozi are false and baseless, causing harm to AY’s personal and professional life. AY has urged the police to investigate the matter.
Popular comedian Ayo Makun, commonly known as AY, has taken legal action against a Facebook influencer, Agozi Samuel, by filing a petition to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Delta State Police Command.
The petition, dated January 24, 2024, was submitted by AY’s legal representatives, Pentagon Partners Legal Practitioners, and addresses defamatory statements made by Agozi.
In the petition, AY alleges that Agozi, through his Facebook page Agozi Comedy, published a video on January 20, 2024, containing malicious and false claims about AY’s personal life. Agozi allegedly asserted that AY had engaged in a relationship with May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, and insinuated that this relationship caused friction in Yul Edochie’s matrimonial home.
AY contends that these statements are entirely fabricated and without merit. He highlights the significant damage caused to his reputation and professional standing as a result of Agozi’s allegations. AY emphasizes that Agozi’s actions violate sections 24(1) and 24(2) of the Cybercrime Act, 2015, pertaining to defamation, cyberstalking, and cyberbullying.
The comedian asserts that Agozi’s dissemination of the defamatory video has had a detrimental impact on both his personal and professional life. As such, he urges the police to arrest and investigate Agozi for his role in spreading false and damaging information.
AY’s petition underscores the seriousness with which he regards the issue of defamation and cyberbullying, emphasizing the need for accountability in online discourse.
